QuickZyme Sensitive Tissue Collagen Assay Kit enables collagen analysis in small tissue samples with low collagen levels. The assay is based on quantitative colorimetric determination of hydroxyproline residues, obtained by acid hydrolysis of collagen. The assay allows quantitative measurement of all types of collagen, species independent. The only hydroxyproline-based assay which shows no matrix effect and no need for further dilution of hydrolysate. No drying of hydrolysate is needed, resulting in a fast and easy (96-well plate format) assay. Application: tissues with low collagen/hydroxyproline content (ex. liver). Sensitivity: 2.4 µM (0.3 µg/ml). Assay-time: < 2 hours. Collagen is a main component of extracellular matrix. Dysregulation in collagen production results in pathologies such as fibrosis (too much collagen), or osteoarthritis (too little collagen). Thus measurement of collagen production is important in many disease related studies.
